Born in Venezuela to an aristocratic family and introduced to high fashion at a young age, Mrs. Herrera had a developed eye for style early on, despite a self-proclaimed disinterest in fashion until her late teens. This refined and sophisticated eye made her a style icon the world over, and subject of the famed artist and society figure Andy Warhol.

Often seen in a classic white shirt, usually with a special additional touch, and trousers, Mrs. Herrera is the picture of classic. She didn't start designing until 1981, after Diana Vreeland, former Vogue Editor-in-Chief, suggested that the Best Dressed List "Hall of Famer" start her own line.
It was a quick success, and one that has grown to include a celebrity and royal following, and was a favorite of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She's known for her exquisite tailoring and when you see her pieces, you can see the incredible skill she has for design and construction. Her designs are sophisticated, not stuffy, and the woman who wears them reflects the confidence wearing her garments gives them. Some of her most amazing work comes in the form of bridal, with intricate lacework on classic silhouettes.
"Do you know what elegance is?
It is not only what you're wearing.
It is how you wear it,
who you are inside.
It is the way you decorate your house,
what you surround yourself with,
the books you read
and what your interests are."
- Carolina Herrera
Carolina Herrera is the embodiment of elegance and sophistication and is still totally modern, which is why she is a Style Star.
