Trend Worth Trying ::: Subtle Nail Art

I am generally not a nail person, and if I do my nails at all, it's usually a really sheer pale pink with shimmer or I "go for it" with a dark shimmery purple, like the Dior I showed off a couple months back.  I've seen a few interesting looks lately that have made me consider branching out a little.  Hell, if Snoop Dogg can get into nail art...maybe I should, too.

Denim is definitely a staple in my wardrobe, and really just about everyone else's. There are so many cuts and washes, and so many changing trends...it's hard sometimes to know what's best for your style and your body in the change sea of style.  

Trend Worth Trying ::: Jewel Tones

Every year, right around this time, jewel tones come blazing back in a big way. It's essentially the Fall trend du jour. And how could it not be? The colors are rich and cozy, and best of all, can easily be worked into a year round wardrobe, especially if they're lighter pieces.

Trend Worth Trying::: Hot Pink and Navy Blue

As I've probably harped on and on about, I think navy seriously is the most versatile color in the wheel, and you can pair it with just about anything. I love it with lime and teal, and also with gold or bronze, but although Mackenzie already knows and proclaims, I am only just learning (accepting?) that seems bright pink is a serious winner, too. The only reason I have a couple hot pink items at all in my closet now is simply to wear this winning team.  I know, I am super late to this shindig...

The bronze smoky eye is more of my "everyday look", but it seems that the metallic gold/bronze smoky eye has really taken hold as the hot makeup look for summer.  Despite the perfectly blended and meticulously applied looks in these images, all it takes to get your glow on is a quick smudge of a deeper bronze shadow along the lashline and on the eyelid and blend, even with your finger. That will give you a pretty amazing and similar look with far less product and time involvement, which in the summer, is perfect. And on (preferably spray tanned) skin, with a sweep of pale shimmery peach blush and a nude or pale peach gloss on the lip, this is a pretty amazing look.

I love a good engineer style boot. They can work dressed slightly up, and equally well dressed down, and can take an overly buttoned up look down a notch, which is my own personal look du jour for work, especially since I am in a creative industry and don't choose to, or have to, dress up.

I am really using the word trend very loosely in this particular post, since this form of "prep classic" is really just that, classic.  Everything about these pieces and this "trend", while still fit for summer, could really be seasonless with the right styling.

Trend Worth Trying::: "The Lob" a la Julianne Hough

File this under "things I never thought I'd say or want to do".  

Normally I *hate* anything even resembling short hair, downright despise it, in fact, but when I saw Julianne Hough's cute crop, or even Jennifer Aniston's pre-grow-out, it really caught my eye, and made me think "hmm, I really think I could do that," despite every previous attempt at similar styles making me regret the day I was born.
