What's in the...Box? ::: I am Living Proof

Photo: Living Proof Obsessions Page

A few months back, Living Proof, the product line developed by MIT scientists and now co-owned by Jennifer Aniston, held a little "Obsessions and Confessions" contest in which they called for entries in the form of photos and videos.  I entered a little video about my obsession with my hair, specifically my hair color, and how I have a stockpile of the "recipe ingredients" that will last me easily the next two years, as well as the recipe under lock and key (it's serious business!). Then I forgot about that mortifying little thing that I had just sent to a celebrity I totally love.

Must Have ::: Paul Mitchell Super-Charged Moisture

Photo: Me of my bottles

A big space "hog" in my shower stall, one of the many my husband probably curses frequently, belongs to a giant pump bottle of this fantastic conditioner, which I use at least once a week, sometimes more often.  It is one of the first deep moisturizers that didn't destroy my color, build up on my hair, and actually made a difference in actively moisturizing my hair.  You're probably reading this thinking "criminy, another hair conditioner?" And I don't blame you...I warned you, I have quite a collection!  I am totally hair obsessed.

Top Secret ::: Joico K-Pak Liquid Reconstructor

Photo: Me of my bottle

Keratin products seem to be all the rage lately, but Joico K-Pak is a true classic in that field, probably the granddaddy of all of them! I have used this liquid variant of Joico K-Pak since it initially launched, after years of using the original cream version in the shower. I still occasionally use the original, and sometimes will pack it on and leave it in overnight if my hair really needs it, followed by a healthy dose of the Paul Mitchell Super-Charged Moisture (post coming soon!)  There's simply not a better keratin deep treatment on the market, and it's been around in it's potent and original form for decades for a reason::: it friggin' works. The liquid is just as powerful, simply in a lighter form, for finer hair.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Goody Quickstyle WaterWicking Comb

I have walked past this Goody comb in Walgreens easily 100 times in the last month and wanted to know if it was worth looking at further (considering it was $8 I couldn't quite talk myself into it). After reading about it in InStyle or Lucky a while back, and some goofy looking brush they also put out with little towel bits worked into it (seriously, that looks like a mold magnet), and finally spotting a few reviews online, like this one on Daly Beauty, I decided that I wanted to try it. And of course by that point, the damn thing is nowhere to be found. Ame, you need to get in on the ground floor.

FOLLOWUP ON TED GIBSON CAPTIVATING COPPER CONDITIONER--

I am happy to report that I am in love with this stuff. I've made a mini stockpile, of which I am kind of going through alarmingly swiftly....despite not really needing it more than like once a week, maybe twice. It's that potent.

Ted, if you're reading this: PLEEEEEASE DO NOT DISCONTINUE THIS!!!  It is my staple, my god-send.  I would love it in a gallon vat with a big pump, or in some monster tube. I don't love the work I have to put in to get the product out (I usually just take the lid off). I use like 1/4-1/3 of a bottle every time I use it, since my hair is so long and dense.

PRODUCT REVIEW: ENJOY Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo and Instant Reconstructing Conditioner

While I was buying a replacement bottle of Vitamino Color earlier today, I spotted some smaller sizes of the ENJOY line of products. It's a line I was hoping to try as it was sulfate free, and despite previous attempts at finding a sulfate free line that I liked, I hoped this might be a good one.

PRODUCT REVIEW: John Frieda Luxurious Volume Lavish Lift Root Booster

I bought the Root Booster by John Frieda at Walgreens one night after reading a review on another blog, I need to find it because she was bang on.   My hair is long and fine and I have about 5 people's worth of hair on it. Which in turn, makes it kind of heavy and not very voluminous.  It also won't hold a curl very long, despite using Caruso rollers.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Josie Maran Argan Oil/Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment

A while back when Moroccan Oil hit the hair salon scene it took off like a bat out of hell.  It's a serum, much like Frizz Ease, with the addition of Argan Oil, which is an oil from a nut indiginous to Morocco, that is excellent for moisturizing hair and skin and apparently pretty tasty on a salad.
