Until recently, I was a stickler about using the stock Mail app on my iPhone because for me it worked fine, until Google shut off the best way to true push email in an attempt to make you use their horrific Gmail app. I have tried it, more than once even, and it's about the worst app I've ever used. And that's saying a lot, since I've tried some pretty crappy apps. Besides the fact that I shouldn't need to download a separate app for my mail to just work the way it should work.
In the last few days, I have seen quite a few Tweets and Facebook messages pop up in my feeds regarding forgotten passwords and needing to find a solution to forgetting them all the time. I replied to several of those by recommending an app I found called 1Password which I use to help me work on that problem, because prior to that app, I, too, was guilty of having no control over passwords. What made the biggest impact in how I keep track of things before I found this app was a friend of mine losing her husband very suddenly, and having no idea what their banking password was, what his phone passcode was, or what his email password was, in order to try to handle the fallout after losing him. (And I am glad that Redbook just did a piece on this very subject in one of the last few issues that I "casually" left out for my own husband to read!)
In between projects this weekend, I am hoping to deploy a new "header" with my new logo (which I might have finally decided on!) onto the blog and twitter this weekend, or at the latest next weekend. And my web implementation skills are not exactly ...um... stellar! So hopefully I don't break this thing and have to shake it to make it work again! I have it planned on the Google Calendar for this Sunday, but we'll see if I stick to my schedule. This is more of a warning shot than anything. Speaking of: does anyone else immediately think of the Lord Helmet/Colonel Sandurz exchange from Spaceballs where they discuss firing a warning shot "across her nose" and Lord Helmet screams "I said across her nose, not up it" when the words warning shot are used? Oh it's just me? Carry on then.
I am seriously addicted to Kickstarter. It's becoming an issue. I have an Amazon account strictly to pay for the items I back on there! I seem to have a tendency to be on a mission for the latest little iPhone gadget, a stand of some kind, an alert bracelet of some kind--something that flashes when you get a message so you can keep your phone in your purse and know if you got a text without checking (if it was not so bulky...), a little contraption to set your phone up in to use a scanning app without having to contort yourself to hold it still...It works on more than just iPhones, it works on a few Android models too, though I believe the app for both variants of the "clap to snap" are still in development, with the iOS variant to come out first. My latest obsession is this little thing called KeyProp, which comes with a "clap to snap" app.
I will not really mention the fact that I have had like NINE of them since October....but that's more an issue with something going on on my AT&T line and related to that theft, less so about the phone itself. I really like it, now that I think the issue is being resolved. It's relatively quick, and the camera is amazing. 8MP, and sharp. I usually just use the standard camera app, though I have been using Instagram to make those pics "cute".
