Must Do ::: Back the Reading Rainbow Kickstarter

Video and Photos via Reading Rainbow Kickstarter

If you have not seen or heard about the "Reading Rainbow" Kickstarter Campaign, you have got to check it out!  But you don't have to take my word for it.

When I was a kid, and even beyond being a kid, I watched Reading Rainbow all the time. People don't give enough credit to PBS, frankly, but they have some fantastic shows, this included.  In its run of 25 years, it won over 200 awards, including a Peabody and 26 Emmys.  In more recent years, they've moved on to an award-winning App to bring the show and it's adventures to the next generation of kids.

This Kickstarter Project has the plans to bring the apps, the programming and a spectacular website to kids all over the world, on tons of platforms, into homes and schools everywhere, "Every Child, Everywhere."  And like me, people everywhere were elated and clamoring to support this project.  Within 12 hours, the minimum goal of $1m was met.  By the end of the second day, it was well over $3m dollars. Lavar Burton and his team clearly didn't realize just how much this show resonated with people, and we brought him to tears!

I normally only check in after backing a project a few times, and keep up with the updates via the emails I get. This time, I am checking in every few hours to see how high it's climbing. Somehow, the team didn't think they'd get this far, so they have been trying to come up with great stretch goals beyond their original plans. I can't wait to see how high this climbs!  Probably twice as high, like the butterfly in the sky?

Have you backed this extraordinary Kickstarter project? What are you waiting for?
