PRODUCT REVIEW: Laughing Cow's new flavors!

As a (failing) WW member, and a member of the Hungry Girl nation, I was super excited about the 3 new Laughing Cow flavors for Fall. Yesterday at Dierberg's I was able to get two of those three (the third is Blue Cheese which I am not interested in). The two I picked up are Queso Fresco and Chipotle and the Mozzarella, Sun-Dried Tomato and Basil.  I typically stick to the Light Original and the Light Garlic and Herb flavors but I decided to be daring since I had a $1 coupon for each flavor. I should have stuck with the usual.

The flavor of the Mozz Tomato Basil is ...well...tastes like puke after a bowl of spagetti. I mean, that's really the closest approximation I can come up with.  Not something I'll go back to.

The flavor of the Queso Fresco is just...meh, and not exactly spicy meh. I was actually most excited about this one and so totally disappointed. It's good when you mix it into things, though. Like fajita veggies as a side, with a little of this, works fantastically. But on it's own with crackers does not work.  I can see working this into recipes, but it's not a winner on it's own.

  1. This makes me so sad. I have been searching for the new flavors (I can't believe you found them) and have been dying to try them. I really don't want to eat them on their own...I love cooking with them. I have read some great recipes using the spicy one (like in a pasta) and the blue cheese one (on a steak or chicken). Not sure if I should give it a go now :(

  2. I was very disappointed. I think cooking with them could be useful. But I don't really fare well with cooking with them...

I got them at the Mackenzie dierbergs, they had LOTs of them in stock. The spicy one was ok, but the other one was SO gross.
